Is Aviation Safe??

Aviation is a great field to work in. I was an Army Air Traffic Controller for 17 years, and loved the work. The Aviation community is the best educated and most dynamic group of individuals in the entire transportation system. I have collected some Youtube shots I thought I’d share. With a bit of commentary of my own.
Given these trying times in the Aviation field what with underwear Bomber, Shoe Bombers, etc. Maybe this pre-flight briefing is one of the answers to the problem...
Ever wonder how those pilots get so good at what hey do? Well it's training, lots and lots of simulator training, here is a unique look in to the hard work that goes in to being one of the best!
On the more serious side. Bird Strikes have been in the news over this last year. If you'd like to know just how serious this can be check out this video.. Both Pilots Ejected and made it ok. Plane was a total loss.
So when you're having a slow day, just swing by this video and think of what it would be like to have this kind of day at the Office!! Go on admit it, it would be sooooo Coool!!

Nice video on hub. I do believe it should be safe with all the guidelines of checks. But nevertheless, life is sometimes hard to predict though.
Great videos. I like your hub. My brother was an air traffic controller for many years until he suffered a major back injury from getting rear ended in an auto accident. He always loved the job, even with the tension and stress. Keep up the great hubs!
Hmrjmr1,
Great hub. My Aunt Eva had a brother who flew jets in the Air Force. He used to buzz our neighborhood and it was very loud.
Dear Hmrjmr,
Fantastic hub with awesome videos. I love the music! You seem so calm after 17 years in air traffic control! You are really amazing.
It's so exciting. I do wish there was a way to prevent bird strikes.
Definitely a fascinating and exciting life you lead! :)
So was that part of the sound barrier displaced with water that we could see on the F-18?
Keep on hubbing
Hammer, the air wing was the place to be in the USMC I was 3rd MAW and a hub to explain it all, I went in on a "aviation guarantee" from the recruiter to get air traffic control, and you know how recruiters lie. I ended up in the door on a gun after NAS Memphis mechanics school and later a NAPs Silver Wing pilot when they still did the senior NCO's to flight school. Fun hub!
Hammer, it was 6.5 second life expectancy with in 300 ft of the ground, if I remember right, as the figure they taught. You are right, there is no way I'd have traded the sky's for a permanent ground pounder. I still had my share of patrol around Marble Mountain on my 1st tour. That second rocker ended that as well as opened the door to NAPs, and my Silver Wings, that civilian side the A&P license and the hours in the seat of medium and light single and dual rotor craft made me a way better than average living letting me be where I am today.
its real institu
wich tipe i belive
Bird Strikes can be pretty nasty. I'm a Cessna 172 pilot and have almost hit a few of them myself. During the approach of one of my first flights, a flock of a hundred or so birds flew right in front of us. To this day, I still can't believe we didn't hit any of them.
